Description

Simple, sensitive, rapid latex test for detecting the capsular polysaccharide of C. neoformans in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), for diagnosing the infection and for the therapy follow-up.

Specimens

Serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)

 

Kit Components

Sample diluent, Detection latex, Control latex, Antibody control, Negative and Positive control, Pronase, Test slide, Reaction Reference Photograph.

 

Assay Protocol:

- Clean test slides

- Put 1 drop of Positive Control, 25μL of Antibody control, Negative Control and specimens in the designated rings

- Put 1 drop of Detection latex into each of the designated rings

- Put 1 drop of Control latex into each of the designated rings

- Mix the contents of the rings

- Rotate at 125 ± 25 rpm for 5 minutes

- Read results

 

Interpretation of results

-    = a homogeneous suspension of particles with no visible clumping

1+ = fine granulation against a milky background

2+ = small but definite clumps against a slighty cloudy background

3+ = large and small clumps against a clear background

4+ = large clumps against a very clear background

 

Storage

The kit must be stored at 2-8°C.
