Description Direct immunofluorescence assay for the detection of Pneumocystis carinii cysts and trophozoites in direct smears of respiratory tract specimens, based on monoclonal antibodies.

SpecimensBronchoalveolar lavage, bronchial wash and induced sputum.
Kit Components Detection reagent, mounting medium, microscope slides and transfer pipets..
Assay Protocol: 1. Air dry specimen on slide and fix in acetone for 10 minutes 2. Place 50 mcl of detection reagent on each well and incubate for 30 minutes at 37°C. 3. Wash with water. 4. Add mounting medium and coverslip to the slide 5. Examine the slide using a fluorescence microscope at 200-300x.
Storage The kit must be stored at 2-8°C.
