Specimens handlingThroat swabs. Use only dacron or rayon tipped sterile swabs with plastic shafts. Swab specimens should be processed as soon as possible after collection. If swabs are not processed immediately, they should be placed into a sterile, dry, tightly capped tube or bottle and refrigerated. Swabs can be stored at room temperature up to 4 hours or refrigerated up to 24 hours.
Kit Components Test packs (one test strip and one tablet in the extraction tube), Extraction reagent, Throat swabs, Positive control, Negative control.
Assay Protocol: 1. Transfer 9 to 11 drops of extraction reagent into the extraction tube. 2. Place the throat swab specimen in the tube, and twist the swab against the tablet until it is completely dissolved (about 1-2 minutes). 3. Squeeze the swab firmly against the tube to expel as much liquid as possible, and discard the swab. 4. Immerse the test strip into the extraction tube, and leave it inside. 5. Read results in 5 minutes. Do not read after 10 minutes.
Interpretation of results Positive result : 1 band in the Control zone + 1 band in the Test zone. Negative results : 1 band in the Control zone only.
Storage The kit must be stored at 4-30°C.
