TRU EBV G

Catalog # 751830 – 30 tests

Description
TRU EBV-G is a rapid immunochromatographic assay, in the new TRU format, for the qualitative detection of IgG antibodies specific to Epstein Barr Nuclear Antigen (EBNA-1) and Viral Capsid Antigen (VCA) in human serum.  When performed in conjunction with assays for other EBV markers, such as TRU EBV M,  this assay can be used to aid in the diagnosis of infection in patients with signs and symptoms of EBV infection such as infectious mononucleosis

Features
- When used in conjunction with TRU EBV M allows differentiation between acute and past EBV infection
- Based on highly specific p18 recombinant peptide
for VCA and recombinant p72 for EBNA-1
- Self contained device
- Rapid detection: results within 20 minutes
- High accuracy: sensitivity
96.5 % and specificity 95.8 %
- Internal procedural control on each device

Kit components
Test Strips, Conjugate Tubes, Sample Diluent, Running Buffer, Positive Control vial, Negative Control vial, Transfer Pipettes, Tube Labels.

Procedure

1. Add 200 mcl of Sample Diluent to a test tube
2. Add 50 mcl of specimen to the tube and vortex.
3. Transfer 25 mcl to the area “S” on the test strip. Incubate for 2 minutes at 20-25°C
4. Add 200 mcl of buffer to the conjugate tube and vortex
5. Insert the test strip into the conjugate tube. Incubate for 15 minutes at 20-25°C

Interpretation of results
Negative Test

A PINK-RED band at the Control Line position.  No other bands are present.
Positive Test:
PINK-RED band at the Control and at either Test Line E, Test Line V or both positions.  The appearance of PINK-RED bands at these Test Lines, even if very weak, indicates the presence of IgG antibodies to EBNA-1 or VCA or both.  The colour of the Test Line can be lighter than that of the Control Line.

Storage

The kit must be stored at 2-8°C.
